“It’s a great read. In his youth my father and some friends tried to stay the night in Hermitage, but they were driven out by 10 pm.” Madam Margaret Eliott of Redheugh, Clan Chief of the Elliots.
"I finally got to sit down & read CLAN now the silly season is over & I had a bit of free time.... Gotta say it is the best book ever.... couldn't put it down, and the twists were so unexpected... FANTABULOUS!" - Claire Walters
"A rich and wonderful tapestry of history, fantasy, family and personality. It bridges ancient magic with modern power in the most enticing and fulfilling way. I eagerly hope for a continuation of the story line, or at the very least, a continuation of this story teller's mastery of bringing stories to life. - James Scott Elliott
“The opening of the “Author’s forward” is fantastic. It had me hooked and I knew from that moment that this book was not going to be just another book. I am going to read on and I want to read on and I am even compelled to go buy it so I don’t get stuck at the computer and can read it in comfort.” L.A. Eccles
"HOLY CRAPP!!!!! Centipedes, OMG!!!!! RED CAPS......Creepy!!!! Just finished the book. I couldn't put it down the closer I got to the end. It was a great book! ...Don't know what I will read next but it will have to be pretty darn good to compete with Clan." - Margaret McLeod Amos (forwarded from friend)
“David….I just finished Clan this afternoon. (…… section removed as it reveals part of the plot which might spoil it for new readers) It was like you were writing about yourself and I kept seeing your face in the character and that creeped me out, but I really liked the book. It was fun reading as well as heart stopping terror! I loved your characters and the way you made them come to life (and death) on paper. Adele, Pam, & I are all hoping that you are or will be writing another book. Thanks again for such a great read.” Margaret McLeod Amos
"I finished this book last night - I could not put it down! What a fantastically written book kept me hooked all the way - I would highly recommend it to all. Well done David and when can I read the next one!!!" - Melanie Breakspear
"Wow, what a book, great story, great Characters. This book was recommended to me and it was worth ordering!! This was a page turner, from the moment i picked it up, I could not put it down. The story draws you in, with believable characters, the story unfolds and grabs you, the myth verus present day is outstanding!! If you like Mythology, Scottish History, horror or all three then this book is for you... I cannot wait to read his next book" J Jackson
"What a read! This is by far the most exciting book I have read in a long time. The pace belies the meticulous research and detailed storyline and was enough to generate audible gasps at the end of chapters as each piece of the jigsaw slotted into place. The author has written not only with intelligence and an extensive knowledge of his subject, but with a raw emotion often lacking in books of this genre. I highly recommend it. " Ms C J Darker
"I've just finished reading CLAN and it was great. A terrific blend of history and mystery with a liberal sprinkling of the supernatural, suspense and blood and gore! As one who can be emotional over family and family history I found a particular part (which I won't elaborate on for fear of spoiling the plot for others) very emotionally-charged and had trouble keeping a dry eye. Altogether a really great read and I had trouble putting it down. I'm heading to Scotland in a couple of months and top of my "must see" list is Hermitage Castle." Rosemary A Miles (Australia)
"This is not the sort of book I would normally read, but being of Scottish decent and fascinated by the whole concept of 'CLAN' I decided I would buy a copy. I can honestly say that this book gripped me from beginning to end. It was truly thrilling, and I was grabbing every moment that I could to read it in order to find out what was going to happen next. All so plausible!?! This book deserves to be a top seller and I hope David will go on to write more. I will be looking for his next book! " Helen Carter
"I purchased this book in the UK. Should be in print in the US. It is a riveting page turner. Unbelievable yet believable. I found myself somewhere between the veil of truth and fiction, like I was part of the Hermitage legend? David Elliot is an extraordinary storyteller. What a great movie it will make. Any chance there will be a sequel?" Susan Painter (Santa Barbara)
"This is a brilliant read from the clever prologue, which sets the pace through to the last page; this was refreshingly a book that you could not second-guess with so many twists and turns. The author intelligently and subtly blended past and present, the supernatural with corporate skulduggery that was not only believable but made you feel at times that this could be really happening. My only disappointment at the end of the book was that it ended! I hope Mr Elliot already has pen to paper as I think a very talented author has a lot more to offer." G.J. Ambrosini
"I've put Hermitage on my must see list when I get to visit. I really am enjoying your book. It has every scary button I have pushed." Pam Goodwill (Las Vegas)
"I have just finished reading this book - and I must say, it is probably one of the best things I have ever read. At one point I had to put it down as I was scaring myself too much and I didn't want to have a nightmare! I found myself getting so involved that in the end I didn't know what was fact and what was fiction. If you are interested in the supernatural and history, you MUST read this book. I can not wait for the next one to hit the shops! Thank you David Elliot for giving me a couple of days "away from it all" Niki Benjamin
"Crafted to perfection. Thrillers are hard to do well and this one is just amazing. Goose bumps just thinking about it! All I can say is "More!" A Selmes
“This is a fascinating story bringing myth, legend, supernatural, historical and corporate politics together in a compelling and thrilling drama. The graphical way in which the characters, both historical and fictitious, are brought to life, makes you feel you are in amongst the action. This book combines reality and fiction in such a way you find yourself questioning where the borders really lie. I look forward to Mr Elliot's next thrilling read.” David C Robson
“J R R Tolkien meets Andy McNab!” Matthew Warner
“I have read this book and I must say I have never read anything like it! It is a fascinating story with elements of history, horror, political power games and the author's autobiography which I found very touching. I could not put the book down until I finished it. A new dimension of novel!” Monika Becker
“An absolutely fab read, I couldn't put it down, and it's been a long time since a book struck me like that. A great story with twists turns, fantasy and a just a little to close to reality to be comfortable... A must for everyones book collection, especially any Elliots out there, or just those who love a great gripping story.” Laura Elliot
“For those who like a really good read, this is the ripping yarn with a strong element of historical truth. The author has really researched his subject. It will excite and frighten you at the same time.” Peter W Scribens
“Starting with a deceptively calm insight into the domestic life and troubles of the middle aged, jaded business man with three failed relationships behind him and nothing much to look forward to, the narrative transports the reader to the wild boarder country where past and present seem to fuse through the machinations of a 21st century crook and an ancient, evil, trapped spirit who has vile designs on Eliott's innocent grandson. Evil influences and horrific battles between this fiend and the ordinary family from Oxfordshire leave the reader shaken and riveted. The juxtaposition of the ordinary with the supernatural hooks the reader and draws them to the shocking conclusion. This book caused family rows in our happy home - I was too involved in the story to talk to my own family. ” Joy Gleeson
"I wouldn't usually take the time to write a review but after reading this book I felt compelled to. "Clan" is frightening, truly moving, fascinating and thrilling! The author writes with such eloquence, creating a world and characters so close to our own it helps to seamlessly blend reality and fantasy. The book will not leave your head for months after reading it and really does leave you pining for a follow-up. The author's clear passion for his subject is genuinely infectious." D. A. R. Elliot
"Clan" is a page-turner full of invention and creative imagery, I couldn't recommend it more.
